Summer Scholars
During the summer of 2009, Summer Scholars will run from July 12-August 1. Our five courses for July 2009 have been confirmed. We invite you to explore your options for this summer here at the University of Richmond as a Summer Scholar. Space is limited in each of the courses, so early application is encouraged. The University of Richmond’s Summer Scholars Program is for high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior year and have a competitive grade point average. To benefit from this program you will be a student who has a strong record of achievement and enjoy the challenge of a rewarding but intensive academic program. We will make sure that you have plenty of opportunity to make friends, have fun and thoroughly enjoy the program, but the focus of Summer Scholars is on the academic content. Come prepared to work and gain the well deserved rewards!
We think you will know if you are qualified for this program, but we will be asking for a letter of recommendation from your high school faculty or administrative staff, as well as a transcript to demonstrate outstanding academic achievement throughout your high school years. We want you with us! This is an exciting and rewarding program, but we want to be sure you can enjoy your studies and still have energy for all the fun!
Summer Scholars classes are held each weekday, and students fully participate in all class-related programs and activities. While the work and curriculum are challenging, the program is fun, too! Students participate in numerous exciting campus activities during the week and off-campus excursions on some weekends.
Summer Scholars is offered to high school students who have completed their sophomore or junior year. These programs present a unique opportunity for students to participate in a college-level class and experience first-hand all that the University of Richmond offers to those seeking a rich and rewarding college career.
Earning Credit
Upon successfully completing the course selected by Summer Scholar students, credits can normally be applied toward an undergraduate degree at the University of Richmond and may be accepted as transfer credit at other universities.
