Taking the Next Step: Focus on College Success
Are you almost ready to dive into your college experience? Get a head start by learning what it takes to be a successful college student. This three-day college preparatory course will teach you all about getting into college and living and studying in college. We welcome high school students of all ages, no matter your college or university preferences – it's never too early to prepare for your college future.
Summer 2009 Schedule & Fee
- Sunday, August 23, 1-5 p.m.
- Monday, August 24, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 25, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
- Fee: $175 – Includes welcome reception for parents and students, book, workshop materials and lunches Monday & Tuesday in the Heilman Dining Center.
Program Details
- Sunday's theme "Your Journey to College" will kick off the course. Parents are invited to join their students from 1-3 p.m. for a welcome reception and presentations on financial planning and admissions processes. Students will then stay to participate in a mini-workshop on how to craft the college application essay.
- Monday's theme "College Life" will help students learn how to manage their time, energy, and money. Enjoy guest speakers from all avenues of the college experience. Learn about residential life, student activities, health and wellness, and career & development topics.
- Tuesday's theme "College Studies" will include instruction on critical thinking, note-taking, reading & studying, memory techniques, and more.
