Education
Puryear Hall, First Floor
(804) 289-8836
One of the purposes of the Office of International Education
is to assist foreign students in their transition to the
University and the United States. Their goal is to make
the community a global one. In addition to working with
international students, this office offers diverse programs
and services in both the social and cultural realms. An
international film series is co-sponsored with the Media
Resource Center and various academic departments on campus.
Starting in September, every Thursday and the following
Sunday evening, films are shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Adams
Auditorium of the Media Resource Center of Boatwright Library.
Speakers of regional, national, and international interest
visit UR to discuss topics of international concern and
to learn about the political, economic, and socio-cultural
aspects of a variety of countries. International Houses
are the focal points on campus for raising the awareness
of international issues and providing an intellectual and
social center. Students are expected to use a second language
in the houses. Announcements of international activities
are included in "The Collegian" and in flyers
posted around campus.
Visit the International
Education Web site for additional information.
