Osher Institute Membership & Registration

Step 1: Become a Member of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute

You can become an Osher member for as little as $50 per year. You may also review Membership Benefits. Your membership is valid for one year from the date you join.

Gold: $400/year

Our Gold membership is perfect for individuals who want to take advantage of the entire Osher Lifelong Learning Institute experience. This individual membership includes a University of Richmond One Card and e-mail address, parking pass, six complimentary tickets to the Modlin Center, full use of the library including access to online databases, and membership in “Friends of the Boatwright.” In addition, Gold members have unlimited access to all Osher courses included in this Schedule of Classes free of charge.

Gold Plus One: $600/year

Gold Plus One is the perfect membership for couples or friends who are interested in joining Osher together. When you join with another person as a Gold Plus One member, each person saves $100. This level includes the same benefits as our Gold membership but covers two people joining together.

Silver: $50/year

Our Silver membership is the perfect “get acquainted” level for individuals who are interested in seeing what Osher has to offer. For a small annual fee, an individual receives a University of Richmond One Card and e-mail address, parking pass, full student-status use of the library including access to online databases, and access to register for Osher courses. However, Silver members pay for each course in which they enroll.

Silver members pay $100 to audit available semester-long credit courses. Silver members pay for each Osher course in which they enroll. Course fees are listed on the Course Schedule.

Upgrading Your Membership
Are you a Silver member who is wondering if an all-inclusive Gold or Gold Plus One membership (allowing you to register for as many classes as you’d like for no additional fees) is right for you? Silver members may upgrade to Gold or Gold Plus One at any time during the first six months of their membership year. Upgrades will not change the membership term dates. When upgrading, the $50 Silver membership fee will be applied to the upgrade.

University of Richmond Employees and Retirees
University employees and retirees may become Osher members for $25. For additional details, review the special University of Richmond employee and retiree membership application form and contact the Osher Institute office.

How to Join
Download and print a Membership Application (available in PDF format for completing by hand or Microsoft Word format for completing on computer), selecting your membership option. Complete the application and forward to us with your payment. We accept check, MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

By Check
If paying by check (made out to University of Richmond), please mail or drop off in person your Membership Application and payment. When paying by check, payment of membership fee and registration fees must be submitted on separate checks.

If paying by credit card, you may fax your completed Membership Application to us, including all credit card information, at 804-287-1264.

If you’d like, you may mail your credit card payment to the above address or drop of your Membership Application in person.

Refund Policy
Course fees paid cannot be refunded, and cannot be applied to membership fees. Membership fees cannot be credited or refunded, except in upgrades as described above in “Upgrading Your Membership.”

Osher Gold and Gold Plus One members may register for as many of the courses listed in the Schedule of Classes as they’d like as space is available for no charge.

Silver members pay $100 for credit courses for audit and are limited to enrolling in one of these courses per semester. Silver members pay the listed course fee for all other courses and may enroll in as many as they would like. Registrations are accepted up to a week prior to the class start date.

If you’re in the neighborhood, feel free to drop off your registration. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is located in the Special Programs Building on UR Drive. Office hours are:

Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m.–7 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m.

• Confirmation of your course registration will be sent by mail pior to the start date
• The confirmation packet will include your classroom assignment, parking pass with instructions, and campus map
• Review the campus map (PDF) and parking services map (PDF) for additional information

  What does the confirmation include?
  The confirmation packet includes instructions on where to park, where to attend class, and how to find the classroom. Confirmations may also include additional information from the instructor, depending on the course.

• Note the time, date, and location of each class
• Find class location on campus map and find directions to campus
• Park in assigned parking area (indicated in confirmation mailing)
