Enrollment Checklist

Activate Your University of Richmond Network and Email Account

• You will receive account activation instructions by mail within a few days of registering for classes
• Account activation instructions will include your assigned network identification (NetID) and password.
• Review the Information Services' "New To Richmond" section for policies, resources, and account activation details.
• Activate and regularly use your University email account to receive important notices. You may choose to forward your University email to another email address after activating your email account.

  What happens when you activate your network account?
  You will receive email at your University account, including official notices from the School of Continuing Studies office. You will be able to access campus computers, including those in the Library and Jepson labs. You will be able to log into BlackBoard courses as required by your instructors, and to log into the University modem pool free of charge. Finally, you will be able to access extensive library resources from home.

Register Your Vehicle with University Parking Services

• Access the Parking Services Web site and review the University's Parking Regulations and FAQs.
• Complete the Vehicle Registration Form for School of Continuing Studies students.
• The semester or annual registration fee will be billed to your tuition account.
• Parking permits are valid from August to July each year; vehicles must be registered every school year.

  What happens when you register your vehicle?
  You avoid receiving a parking ticket! You also provide information that helps campus police and security maintain a safe learning environment. The University provides ample parking spaces, but vehicle permits must be displayed at all times. Your parking permit will be mailed to the address you provide on the Vehicle Registration Form.

• Once you have been admitted into a program of study, you are eligible to receive, at no charge, your University photo ID (One-Card).
  • As long as you remain a non-degree-seeking student, your paper identification card, mailed to you after registration, will serve as your library card and identification.
• Visit the One-Card Services office on the third floor of Tyler Haynes Commons to have your photo taken. You will have an opportunity to have this done during the New Student Orientation, if you choose.
• You will receive your ID about 5 minutes after having your photo taken.

  What are the benefits of One-Card?
  Your University One-Card is used to access your meal plan, computer labs (including the Boatwright Computer Classroom) and your Spider Account (including snack machines throughout campus), and it also serves as your library card. Your One-Card is the only card you will need on campus.

Attend New Student Orientation

• Orientation Sessions are held immediately preceding the Fall and Spring Semesters.
• Watch for orientation session dates on the front page of the School of Continuing Studies Web site and information in the mail.
• Visit the New Student Orientation page for information on upcoming orientation sessions.

  What happens at New Student Orientation sessions?
  New Student Orientation sessions provide an introduction to and overview of University of Richmond and School of Continuing Studies services and opportunities. Attendees receive student handbooks and other print materials that provide student expectations and resources.

• Use Directions and Campus Map to find your way to campus and to the building
• Review BannerWeb before attending to comfirm location and time -- changes sometimes occur
