Undergraduate Course Work in Leadership Studies
Participate in Experiential Learning. Leadership classes are participative, experiential and practical and offer
fun experiences that will help you understand leadership. Classes are designed
for students who wish to learn more about leadership.
Typical
classes include a wide variety of students: employees who are potential leaders, first-line supervisors
and middle managers who need to lead more effectively.
Gain a Better Understanding of Leadership. In the Leadership Studies program, you will learn that leadership means:
- Accepting personal responsibility for leading
- Being value-centered - underlying beliefs emphasize vision,
direction, values and purpose
- Striving to motivate, inspire and create a vision
- Integrating disparate
ideas and a global scope
- Focusing on ethics and standards
- Understanding social, political, economic and philosophical forces
- Researching relevant societal programs and policies
- Developing value-based skills
Select a Leadership Studies Option that Meets Your Needs
Earn a Certificate in Leadership. The Certificate is available to qualified applicants and requires 21 undergraduate credit hours.
Earn a Minor in Leadership. The Leadership minor requires 18 undergraduate credit hours and is open to all undergraduate SCS students.
Eligibility Requirements
- Certificate applicants
- Undergraduate degree from accredited college or university
- Completion of the undergraduate application
- Submission of original transcripts from all college coursework
