Transition from Public Safety University
Status of Public Safety University (PSU)
Public Safety University disbanded as a foundation in the summer of 2006. The original intent of PSU was to partner with an education provider (University of Richmond School of Continuing Studies) to offer bachelor's degree-completion and master's degree programs to members of the public safety community.
The Human Resource Management program is no longer accepting new students in the Tidewater and Northern Virginia regions.
Status of Public Safety University Students
"Public Safety University" was the name of the partnering foundation. All students currently in the PSU program (those who enrolled in the Fall 2006 semester or earlier) are University of Richmond students who attend classes through the School of Continuing Studies in three campuses: the Richmond campus, the Northern Virginia campus, and the Tidewater campus. We will use the name "University of Richmond student" or "School of Continuing Studies student" to describe enrolled students and alumni.
Effective immediately, the term "Public Safety University" and the abbreviation "PSU" will not longer be used to describe the program or its students. For more details, review the FAQ document in BlackBoard in the "HRM/Leadership Program Cohorts" course.
Cohort members who started the program in Fall 2006 or earlier will continue to receive the original public safety discount on tuition until the conclusion of the cohort's program. The cohorts that started in 2006 will be the last cohorts to receive this discount. PSU no longer accepts new students.
