Financial aid is available for School of Continuing Studies students
in the form of scholarships, grants, and loans. The type and amount
of assistance will depend on your program of study and your enrollment
status. For complete details, please visit the Financial

In addition to aid offered through the University's Financial Aid Office,
the School and partner programs offer the following scholarships:
Evening School
Osher Reentry Scholarship
The School of Continuing Studies has been granted the Osher Reentry Scholarship Fund to be awarded to SCS students for the 2007-2008 school year. To be considered for the scholarship, students must fit into the following categories. Student's collegiate studies have been interrupted for approximately 5 or more years before being admitted to the School of Continuing Studies
Student previously matriculated at a 4-year college or university
Student looks forward to a significant number of years of workforce participation after graduation
Student is between the ages of 25 and 50
Student is seeking a first baccalaureate degree (and must be admitted to a baccalaureate degree program in SCS)
Student demonstrates financial need as reported on the scholarship and in the letter submitted by each student
Student is making satisfactory academic progress in SCS (maintaining a 2.0 GPA)
School of Continuing Studies Scholarships
Several small scholarships are available to School of Continuing Studies students
who are actively pursuing a planned program of study and who have completed
12 semester hours in the School. The deadline for application is July 1. Applications
for scholarships may be obtained from the School of Continuing Studies or downloaded

Established in 1996 by alumni, students and friends, the Jean H.
Proffitt Scholarship is available to bachelor degree candidates who
have been accepted to the Evening School, School of Continuing Studies. This
scholarship is administered by the School of Continuing Studies Alumni Association.

The School of Continuing Studies Evening School has several additional
scholarships available to certificate, associate and bachelor degree
candidates who have completed at least 12 semester hours in the School of
Continuing Studies. These scholarships are need-based and are not available
to students who receive other financial assistance. Individuals who can receive
tuition reimbursement through their employer are not eligible for scholarship

Brown v. Board of Education Scholarship Program
Scholarship program established by the Virginia General Assembly to provide
financial aid assistance to persons who were enrolled in the public schools
between 1954 and 1964, in school divisions (Charlottesville, Norfolk, Prince
Edward County, and Warren County) in which the public schools were closed to
avoid desegregation. Eligible persons must be current domiciled residents of
the Commonwealth of Virginia. Scholarships may be used only to pay tuition costs
at public schools and institutions of higher education in Virginia to earn any
of the following:
GED certificate
High school diploma
Career-technical skills training at public two-year colleges
Two-year or four-year undergraduate degree, part-time or full-time
Institute on Philanthropy
Scholarship funds may be available for select Institute
